A Comparison of Blood Indices in Orally and Inhaled Opium Addicts with Non-addict Healthy Control

Background: Drug abuse and drug dependence are very common in the community, which causes complications patients. It is necessary to identify these complications. Objectives: The aim of this study was compare blood parameters oral inhaled opium addicts with healthy individuals Zahedan. Methods: This performed on 60 people (20 group addicts, 20 group). After recording demographic information, were recorded analyzed. Results: findings our showed that mean white cell (WBC), platelets (PLT), corpuscular volume (MCV), hemoglobin (MCH), concentration (MCHC) not significantly different three groups. However, it found red (RBC), (Hb), hematocrit (Hct) groups serum lead (Pb) levels higher, but no difference seen between also all subjects, Pb had an inverse significant relationship RBC, Hb, Hct. Conclusions: higher substance abusers may cause further anemia, must be frequently checked abusers.
